About Me

Cathy Lopez Wessell       

Cathy Lopez Wessell, MSW, LCSW

I'm a licensed clinical social worker specializing in integrative individual psychotherapy for adults, parent coaching and canine assisted services. I am a certified Synergetic play therapist, which informs my parent coaching and psychotherapy with adults. I am an instructor for the Social Work Department at Colorado State University. I designed the course curriculum and teach SW 550 Animal Assisted Therapy and the Human Animal Bond. Upon request, I offer professional consultation. I have over 15 years’ experience working with children and adults of diverse ages and backgrounds. I have experience in a variety of settings including public and private mental health, health, school, and hospice. I received a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Alabama's Social Work program, graduating with honors. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I currently maintain a private practice in Aurora, Colorado

As a integrative holstic therapist, my therapeutic approach is to provide specialized support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges and to grow. I integrate complementary evidenced-based t methodologies and alternative techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help him or her build on strengths and attain the personal growth he or she is committed to accomplishing.
